HUNGRY DESIGN implies two things: having a strong desire for food, and/or craving for something else. This theme is familiar to all of us, as both food and design have a strong connection to our lives, and are one of the important foundations of social interactions.

As professionals create new ways and solutions to revamp the F&B market, we explore the potential of packaging: to reinvent the way we see food and design, and deliver a new authentic experience – with delectable taste and a great story to tell.

This exhibition showcases more than one hundred outstanding F&B packaging design from Topaward Asia’s winners. By sharing these works, we offer visitors a glimpse into the myriad possibilities told through a packaging’s appearance, creativity, form, functionality and materiality.

From the retail sector to F&B to online shopping, cardboard boxes are used extensively in the packaging and transportation of consumer goods. Look around and you will see these cardboard boxes everywhere. What happens to these boxes? Is there a better, more sustainable way for us moving forward?

For this edition, we wanted to explore the wasteful nature of consumerism and question if product and packaging design can be socially responsible. In casting an eye on sustainability, we also wanted to see if we could design an exhibition with minimal to zero waste by recycling these very boxes. How do we design a living and practical showcase of what it means to be sustainable?

Our idea was to create an exhibition 'landscape' with cardboard boxes donated by socially conscious retailers. When the exhibition is over, these boxes can then be recycled yet again. This way, the material is given as long a lifespan as possible and very little goes to waste.

FARM is a cross-disciplinary design practice that merges architecture & interior design, graphic design & branding, exhibition design & curatorial work, product design & merchandising, as well as art installation & sculpture. Underpinning all we do is the belief that creativity is both boundless, and boundary less. In cultivating a culture of imagination, we endeavour to bring joyful creativity to each and every one of our projects. Despite the occasional hectic schedules and deadlines, we hold this dictum close to our hearts: Work Hard & Be Nice to People.
