“TAWASHI MUSUBI” was developed as a new type of windmill palm scrubber designed to eliminate exposed metal wires—often the cause of scratches on cookware—while adapting to the complex shapes of kitchen utensils. The development began with a request from Kama-Asa Shoten in Kappabashi, Tokyo, asking whether it would be possible to create a scrubber capable of cleaning specially coated cooking pots without damaging their surfaces.
Conventional scrubbers are typically secured with metal wire, which can sometimes come into contact with cookware during use. To address this issue, Musubi adopts a structure in which two round windmill palm brushes are tied together, concealing the metal wire inside and creating an all-surface scrubber that can be safely used from any direction.
The three-dimensional form created by the connected brushes naturally follows the rims of pots and pans, the edges of cups, and the rounded shapes of root vegetables, enabling effective cleaning even in difficult areas.
The packaging is designed so that users can experience the texture and material quality of windmill palm fibers before opening. A paper sleeve allows the product to be inserted from both the top and bottom, partially revealing the scrubber so customers can touch and feel it without fully removing it from the package. The natural texture of the palm fibers also creates gentle friction with the sleeve, helping prevent the product from slipping out even without a lid—an advantage unique to this type of scrubber.
