Ebi Senbei
"Sold in conjunction with the Setouchi Art Festival, this is a package for a "ebi senbei" (shrimp cracker) maker based in Kagawa prefecture of Japan.
Since it was to be largely sold outside of the festival as well, I merged the form of the shrimp into the product name, aiming for a simple and powerful design.
The size of the boxes were a set requirement, so I was particular in the type of paper used and foil stamping the typographic elements.
Also, juxtaposed with the simplicity of the top surface, there will be a sense of surprise of joy when one opens the box as the individual packages illustrate the Seto inland sea, and the shrimp for is merged with the type on the side of the box as well."
