The concept of sake and novel pairing was created from the desire of wanting people to enjoy the delicious sake along with the story of its birthplace.

The stories take place in Nagaoka city, Niigata’s sake district. Written by Mariko Yamauchi (best-selling author), she constantly rethinks the relationship between Tokyo and the region; between men and women, and turns it into a novel. There are two stories: 運命の人かもしれないけど『じゃあ、ここで』and あたしはまだ到着していない. One is written from a male perspective while the other from a female perspective; they are separate yet connected, and together it forms one complete novel.

The packaging has been designed to evoke a sense of story. The illustrations printed directly onto the bottles are imagined and drawn by an illustrator who read both stories. The outer box packaging has been developed to mimic the form and shape of a paperback novel.
