Opening of a new pop-up shop in Fukuoka Airport, along with the decision to make a new confectionary souvenir, started the development of TABI-MONAKA. we have been developing stationery and household items and tools with attention to functionality. This time round, we decided to develop a Japanese confectionary item that can also be enjoyed as a travel item. In collaboration with Tokinose, a Japanese confectionary store in Fukuoka Prefecture, we were able to positively drive and make this high-quality product in a short period of time.

TABI-MONAKA adds “relaxation” and “enjoyment” to your journey. In the midst of your travels when your spirit tends to be alert or tense, we want this product to support your journey. We offer flavours that help you relax and refresh; the product comes in 3 variations: lemon-mint, mocha, and classic red bean pastes.

We wanted to come up with a new image - something different from traditional Japanese confectionary designs. We prioritised functionality and decided to go forward with a simple design paying special attention to the packaging’s thickness, shape and material.

The confectionary is designed in a shape of a stick with a dent so it can be easily eaten with one hand. The box is perfect for carrying and the sturdy material protects the fragile product inside.
