Chi Ming Publishing has launched a series of Special Stationery for Editors, including high-end pencils and sign pens. The pencils are Liberty 9800 premium drawing pencils, while the sign pens feature the iconic Pentel model invented by Yukio Horie in Japan in 1963, whose design has remained unchanged to this day. The packaging for both products are crafted from gray cardboard boxes with L-angled nails, echoing the simple, utilitarian quality and tool-like essence of the writing instruments. The pencil packaging incorporates pencil-like lines into the text and graphics, with a scribble-shaped cut-out on the top side. The sign pen packaging features full-page green color that contrasts with the exposed gray cardboard core, creating a raw yet refined aesthetic, paired with typography that mimics the writing strokes of sign pens. Both designs add up to the playful and nerdy atmosphere around the concept of “editor’s” stationery.
