“Terroir A” is a craft gin created by the long-established sake brewery Tatsuriki in Himeji.
Known for its ongoing research into soil quality to produce exceptional sake, Tatsuriki brings this expertise to gin-making. The base spirit of Terroir A is distilled from Yamada Nishiki rice grown in the Tokuto A District—recognized as the finest terroir for sake rice. The word terroir means “soil” in French, and the name Terroir A reflects the brewery’s deep commitment to soil and its qualities. Accordingly, the logo typography was designed to embody both strength and delicacy, leaving a strong impression of the name itself.
The label design is unconventional, composed of irregularly arranged elements rather than a single sheet. Using a transfer sheet structure, only the design portions remain adhered to the bottle thanks to varying adhesive strengths. The alcohol content is highlighted with foil stamping, while the sleek transparent bottle paired with the texture of white washi paper conveys a sense of craftsmanship and refined detail.
